Running extension chords off the power of my hosts home just didn’t feel right.  Especially when I was using my power tools.  So, off to the store to get my own generator.  My budget being what it is … limited, I selected a basic 4k gas powered generator from Harbor Freight Tools.  It is a heavy unit with 2 duplex 120v outlets, and, I hope, sufficient capacity to operate most of my power tools, as well as lighting inside the bus.

An important aspect of the generator was that it was equipped with a 240v twist-lock outlet.  My thought was that I could use this to connect into the panel I intended to install for my primary electrical system.

With this in mind, I hauled my new toy out to the bus, got all my measurements, and began construction of a shelf under the floor, and just behind the right front wheel.  And of course, there has to be a door, and a way to slide it out to start it up!

So, with the sliding shelf in place, and the door cut, and installed with hinges, I was ready to go … oops.  Needed a way to hold the door open during starting and operation.  A few small magnets on the outside of the door worked wonders!
